Erca

the night prowler

Prowling through the night. Paw marks press into the soft dirt. Sparks flutter from its tail tip as eyes sparkle for the steady strong beats of Erca's clan.

A deep black tea layered with blue mallow flowers, marigold, rose petals, apple, grapes and cornflower. Dark fruit over a steady base.

Field notes

How to brew the night prowler.

i. In an infuser.

One heaped teaspoon per cup. Water at a full boil straight from the kettle; black tea likes the heat. Steep three to four minutes.

ii. In the teapot.

A teaspoon per cup and one extra for the pot. Lid on, let it sit, pour the lot before it stews.

iii. Loose in the cup.

The unhurried way. Let the leaves settle as it cools and sip once the steam softens.

Afterwards, the leaves go to the garden, not the bin.
